Killing Joke Bassist Raven Dies

Paul Raven, bassist with post-punk band Killing Joke, has died of a suspected heart attack aged 46.

The Wolverhampton musician's body was found on Saturday in Geneva, Switzerland, where he was recording.

Killing Joke had hits including Love Like Blood and Pandemonium, and were covered by Metallica and Foo Fighters.

Bandmates Jaz Coleman and Geordie Walker described Raven as "possibly the funniest man on planet Earth and a brother to us all".

Raven's music career included stints in Neon Hearts and glam rock band Kitsch before he replaced original Killing Joke bassist Youth in 1982.

He left the band in 1987 before forming Murder Inc and joining Ministry, Prong and Mob Research.

Prong bandmate Ted Parsons found Raven in a chair and called an ambulance crew, which was unable to revive him.

"I'm devastated," Parsons said. "He will be missed by many."
